MIGUEL A. CABRERA (MACAB)

I’m Miguel Ángel Cabrera.

I was born in Málaga, Spain, in 1985. I’m a school teacher and photographer, with a visual language strongly influenced by cinema, music —especially jazz and rock— comics, and literature. All of these references shape the way I observe and build images.

I started with travel photography in 2018, but soon became drawn to the everyday mystery of the street. I currently focus on street and documentary photography, guided by light, shadows, and small gestures that often go unnoticed.

My work has been recognized in international street and documentary photography festivals and competitions, and has been exhibited in cities such as Pisa, Tokyo, Istanbul, Vienna, Venice, Seville, Madrid, Málaga, and Barcelona.

My photographs have been published in specialized media and catalogues, as well as in my own zine, A Japan Zine, the result of three weeks traveling and photographing across Japan. I am currently developing several ongoing personal projects related to street and documentary photography.

I walk without a destination, observe, and wait. The street always has something to say — sometimes in silence, sometimes with a jazz rhythm.
